These two sort of gave me Pac-Man vibes.

My red converse on either side of two large golden amanita mushrooms. They are a bit torn up and kind of look like Pac-Man to me.

Spotted this little rain collector hiding among the holly leaves and pine needles.

A close-up, eye-level photograph of a solitary, peach-tan mushroom rising from a dark, damp woodland floor. The smooth, rounded cap has a gentle depression in the centre holding a small pool of rainwater. Fallen, spiky brown holly leaves and pine needles surround the pale stem, interspersed with sprigs of deep green moss. The lighting is soft and moody, casting gentle shadows across the rich, decaying forest debris in the background.

We’ve got that #FungiFriday feeling again!

This time we’re taking on one of the trickiest pairs of waxcaps to tell apart. Meet the Golden and Butter Waxcap!

They look very similar, but fear not! We’re here with some more top ID tips.

Become a whizz at telling these two waxcaps apart. 👇

Graphic titled “Spot The Difference: Golden and Butter Waxcap” in white and yellow text. A close-up photograph shows a bright yellow waxcap mushroom growing among green grass, with the underside of the cap and its thick, waxy gills clearly visible. In the bottom-right corner, a label reads “Fungi Friday!”. The background is softly blurred, drawing attention to the distinctive colour and structure of the mushroom.

Side-by-side photos of a mushroom.
Left photo: A mushroom with a wide flat cap that is rich orange in the center fading or a light orange-ish beige on its fringed edges. It is growing out of the ground, which is covered in dead leaves.
Right photo: Close up of the underside of the mushroom showing the long thin gills radiating out from the center. As the mushroom gets thinner towards the edges the sun can shine through it.

Fallen giant on a bed of moss.

#FungiFriday #Mosstodon

A huge mushroom, some kind of bolete, with a large brown cap and a light-coloured stipe. Because it's flat on the ground, yellow tubes on the underside of the cap are showing. Its bed consists of moss, old oak leaves, small sticks and leaves of grass.
