Ghostly Times # 3

1. We see people crying over the deceased body (Rèspie). 2. The Ghost (Rèspie) announces his entrance behind a curtain, and people are shocked. 3. Rèspie ask for a simple request... 4. he's asking for a lock, and the people are confused by the request.

1. All of a sudden, a sort of guy intrudes on the scene; it's the famous investigator Caligari, and people are surprised and yell his name in unison. 2. Caligari doesn't believe he's a ghost but just a Crook and lectures him 3. Then Caligari opens the curtains, leaving Respiè shocked. 4. Rèspie timidly say hi while getting scared and falls back cartoonishly (he's fine).

I realized I never posted them side by side, but here are both of the character sheets for the protagonists of “RIFT”, a sci-fi fantasy webcomic about grief, love and transcendence when the universe is facing it’s end!

Maxis (he/they), the series main protagonist. Age: 19. From the planet, Palven (now destroyed). His mother, who died in the rift that destroyed his planet, is from Telaran, where cultural and religious practices are based around astronomy and reincarnation cycles. They believe dragons formed the very stars that make us. Their fangs represent the serpents thy descend from.
Though, due to his parent’s death at an early age, he has been detached from his culture, and only has faint memories of what he remembers from growing up.
Maxis is strong headed, determined, and has deep emotions, but he rarely shows them. He’d rather play everything off sarcastically, or turn things around to not focus back on his true feelings, because then he’d had to acknowledge them. His grief manifests in a way in which it’s buried down deep within, so he’d rather just forget about it and pretend to try to live a normal, easy life. Though, life, and his love interest and decades old best friend, Theo, have other plans…
Prologue Age: 9
Act 2 Age: 23
Act 3 Age: 27

Theo (he/him), the series’ secondary protagonist. Age: 21.
Much is not known about Theo’s parents, as he grew up an orphaned boy on the streets, unseen by the world, until one day. As the planet, Palven, was erupted by a rift, young Theo cried out to be saved, going unanswered until another boy, Maxis, reached out and helped him escape his fate. From that day, Theo knew he would never let Maxis go, just like Maxis did for him...
After being taken in by the Faran church, one of the galactic governments, Theo would be determined to prove his usefulness. Though lacking in smarts, he showed excellence in what is needed of a soldier. Coupled with the power to summon a protective shield, Theo would become one of the galaxy’s top military rank; earning him and Maxis a position with an elite squad, set on stopping the very rifts that brought them together.
