This novel is just so whacky as to be fabulous and we're definitely going to do it on my new module from January, 'Exploring Egypt in British Literature and Culture', @qmul.bsky.social
@c19qmul.bsky.social #Egypt #Cleopatra #RiderHaggard

Saartie

#Cleopatra, she had to give sensual performances and some touched her #mockingly

Her #body parts were even put on display, and a professor gave lectures about her

I still get #angry when I look at it

Happy birthday, Ankha! From Animal Crossing series! 😊🎉🎂🎊💐🎁👸𓂀🇪🇬👑

#Cleopatra

Do you think you're welcome in paradise now ?

Weren't we the leaders ?

I have serious doubts, especially when you look at the results

These days, their real power has been taken away, but they can still act as #King or #Queen and show interest

#Cleopatra

You had large #pyramids built for the journey to the afterlife

Did many #casualties fall in that terribly hot #sun ?

Certainly, but they were subordinates and #slaves

Aren't they people ?

Hmmm.

#Cleopatra

When those #Romans wake up, they'll naturally be looking for their #sword first

It's a good thing there's no violence in #God's #Heaven, and therefore no swords either

You might be right about that

I'll study your tweets carefully

#Cleopatra

It's mean to make those people fight each other to the death

I know, but it was for the people's amusement
They often decided what would happen to the loser

The winner got either #freedom, #money , fame, and not to forget #gladioli !

Mmm.

#Cleopatra

Did you ever give the thumbs down at those #gladiator fights ?

I didn't have #time for that
Julius and I had completely different things on our minds

I'm glad !

I've #forgiven you, that makes everything a bit easier

#Cleopatra

Marcus Antonius was Octavian's brother-in-law, and he hadn't forgotten your escapades

What now ?

You know, we have a child together, and that's #Heaven

Read my tweets and you'll know how to proceed

Only homogamous marriage is allowed !

#Cleopatra

He wanted power for himself

Your offered friendship failed
His #revenge would be sweet !

You had no choice but to commit #suicide

The children were spared, by the way, but your son from Julius #Caesar not

What a tragedy!

What now?

#Cleopatra

You paid a high price for underestimating that #Octavian

What should we have done then?

Maybe you should have made #friendship with him right away

You wanted to save the day with friendship but he didn't want to

That's right!

#Caesar

My fate was worse than that of #Victoria

I would have liked to live so much

#Cleopatra,

After the death of Julius Caesar, Marcus Antonius and you wanted to punish the #perpetrators and purify the #empire?

However, you underestimated the heir of Julius Caesar

#Cleopatra

Almost nothing is left of #Queen Victoria's empire, despite all the effort she has made

Maybe she will lose even more #Kingdoms in a while

Developments are not favorable and times are changing quickly

Have you never heard of tweets?

#Cleopatra

She made large donations with her own money to help those poor #Irish

There was a #disease in the crops there and they had nothing to eat

Yet those poor Irish had to pay the rent or lease to the landowners or sell their small property to them

Bah

#Cleopatra

I actually liked that Queen #Victoria

You know, she was beautiful and also cared for her oppressed subjects like the #Irish

And all that against the will of her rich countrymen

That's beautiful or not ?

Sure, I'm happy with your tweets and will study them well
