Trying more charcoal, it’s a fresno nightcrawler! #cryptid #creature #fresnonightcrawler #halloween #charcoal
A charcoal drawing that started as a spontaneous experiment for this year’s Open Ateliers exhibition and somehow turned into one of my favorite pieces I did this year.
I absolutely love this medium. You can see the whole process over on my Patreon. Link in bio.
Had to use compressed charcoal for a course and thought it came out a bit tasty looking. So enjoy!
I like to think that I can draw a bird or a fish *pretty good*. This is sadly not the case for people...
There only one way to draw people as good as birds (?). Let's GET BETTER.🦆
Silent neighbour.

Graphite and charcoal establish values, with ink lines defining forms and contrasts in the environment. Dark values emerge from charcoal and ink, while lighter areas come from graphite and paper.

yeah, this was pretty much done lol
wish me luck, this is for a juried gallery show
Charcoal and slate anchor this vintage palette, while lilac and silver add a cool, subtle contrast. It is a straightforward mix of muted tones for a classic gallery look.
