#BPHM8689 It's the start of our NEW POLL

BLACK POP HISTORY 1986-1989

In honour of Black History Month (UK)

Four extraordinary years in Black music history, 256 tracks, one poll - vote for your favourites and cast your bonus votes!

docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Here’s an Apple Music version of the 89 playlist. Missing “Finditnow” but does have “Self Destruction” (thanks, Snoop). Otherwise, the same songs are missing.

+ so they’re all in one place, links below ⬇️ to Apple 88, Apple 87 and Apple 86

The full list of 256 tracks for this year's #BPHM8689 poll is here

docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

BTW I *think* the fairly radical changing of the guard this poll - no Stevie or Pointers this time! - leaves JOAN ARMATRADING as the only artist in all 5 BPHM tournaments

#BPHM8689 And finally the 1989 playlist - this is a weird one (complimentary!)

List below...

#BPHM8689 This 1986 playlist is now in MATCH ORDER!

These are the matches we'll be running on Monday (3 A-Sides, 3 B-Sides), Tuesday (2 As, 3 Bs) and Thursday (3 As, 2 Bs) next week

#BPHM8689 It's the 1988 playlist! Think this is the most A-Sidey of the four, hit after hit on here

Stand by for the list!

#BPHM8689 It's the 1987 playlist!

I tried to minimise crossover with the 1987 poll but there's inevitably some.

In this thread I will once again list everything we'll be polling for 87...

Day 28 - XYZ: Zimbabwe

"Chekudya Chose," The Bhundu Boys (1983)

Discovered during #BPHM8285 ... and, by the way, the next round covering black pop music from 1986 to 1989 is about to start up. #BPHM8689

#BPHM8689 The first playlist is done!

I'm going to list everything we're polling for 1986 in this thread

Right. Here are my #BPHM8689 bonuses.

1986. Ice Cream Tee with DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, “Guys Ain’t Nothing But Trouble”

🧵2/3

#BPHM8689

MAIN : Grandma Dynamite - 24-7 Spyz (1989)

2. Colors - Ice T (1988)

3. Candy - Cameo (1986)

4. How ya Like Me Now - Kool Moe Dee (1987)

5. Bonus - My Prerogative - Bobby Brown (1988)

#BPHM8689 This is the NOMINATIONS THREAD for the

BLACK POP HISTORY 1986-1989 poll next month!

Pick four tracks from 86-89 in order of preference and if you pick one from each year pick a fifth too!

Guidelines: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

From my year-by-year Favourite (Top 75) Hits lists these are my highest-rated eligible options tho I'd rather focus on some lesser known stuff personally. Certainly surprised a few of these are still NOT in Pollhalla yet (perhaps 'Push It' most of all). #BPHM8689

#BPHM8689 update - I’m aiming for 4.30PM UK time, slightly later than the usual kick off cos unexpected Stuff has come up

Tracks eliminated in my play-offs for #BPHM8689 Black Pop History Month '86-'89 (which means YOU could nominate them :)

How the hell am I supposed to pick only 5 songs from this for #BPHM8689 ?
