New Article in Press: Using Large Language Models to Identify Suicide Risk Factors in Pediatric Emergency Department Chart Notes #articleinpress #jaacapopen https://twp.ai/E5GD48

Part of an infographic summarizing use of large language models (LLMs) to identify suicide risk factors in pediatric emergency department chart notes. The study included 920 patients (ages 8–12) across 1,310 ED visits. Prior research found higher odds of suicide concerns among youth with prior hospitalization, sleep problems, and LGBTQ+ identity, and higher risk of return ED visits among those with prior hospitalization or sleep issues. The workflow shows LLM processing, note cleaning, and prompt engineering to extract explicit evidence of suicide risk factors from clinical notes. New Article in Press: A Common Metric for the Emotion Dysregulation Inventory From Early Childhood Through Adolescence #articleinpress #jaacap https://twp.ai/E5GFgX

Scatterplot from a validation study of the Emotion Dysregulation Inventory showing 2 sets of scores in a general population sample. Gray triangles and black circles form closely aligned upward-sloping patterns, indicating an almost perfect correlation between measures (ρ ≈ .999). Data points span roughly −2 to 3 on both axes, with most clustered between 0.5 and 2.5. New Article in Press: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis: Risk Factors for Suicide in Youth Psychological Autopsy Studies #articleinpress #jaacap https://twp.ai/E5GFhw

Bubble scatterplot from a meta-analysis of youth suicide risk factors. The x-axis shows pooled odds ratios (log scale) and the y-axis shows between-study heterogeneity (I², 0%–100%). Each labeled bubble represents a risk factor, with larger bubbles indicating greater study weight. The strongest associations appear for personal history of suicide, acute stressors, any mood disorder, any psychiatric disorder, and any depressive symptoms (odds ratios roughly 8–15). Moderate associations are observed for major depressive disorder, abuse/trauma exposure, behavioral disorders, interpersonal conflict, family history of suicidal behavior, low socioeconomic status, and poor parent relationships (odds ratios about 3–10). Risk factors with lower heterogeneity include anxiety disorders, impaired physical health, alcohol or substance abuse, psychiatric treatment, and rural residence. Dashed reference lines divide the plot into quadrants by effect size and heterogeneity.
