Last Saturday (Sep 12) we had the pleasure to welcome Ziguanas from all over the world at #Zigtoberfest 2026 to talk all things #Zig. It's awesome to see the event grow from a small classroom with roughly 25 people to a packed theater.

Writing iterators in #Zig is simple. Implement a new struct that refs a collection, index state and single function 'next' to hold logic for determining what is next. Return null when done.

We wrote an iterator to abstract-away traversing a virtual grid.

I'm very confident that some folks are cooking a new programming language that will get the best parts of #Rust & #Zig (and #lean perhaps). All that empowered and accelerated by LLM usage. We've seen this trend over the years, where basically all programming languages tend to converge.

It took a while but I've updated my Monkey Interpreter in #Zig book to play nice with zig 0.16 and I've added a chapter to help break up some lengthy parts. Hope someone gets some value out of this. Any and all feedback is welcome!
