'bridge in the rain (after hiroshige) by vincent van gogh 1887. oil on canvas. van gogh loved japanese art. he particularly admired utagawa hiroshige. this painting is his version of hiroshige's 'sudden shower over shin-ohashi bridge and atake' a colour woodblock done in 1857. the painting depicts a slightly arched bridge over water with several figures under umbrellas hurrying over the bridge. in the water is a long, narrow boat being paddled by one person. around the outside of the painting is a colourful border with many japanese characters written on it.

Three Sunflowers in a Vase (also known as Vase with Three Sunflowers), painted by the legendary Post-Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh in August 1888. This piece belongs to his famous Sunflowers series, which he created while living in Arles, France, to decorate the room of his fellow artist and friend Paul Gauguin. Unlike the more commonly recognized variations that feature twelve or fifteen flowers, this earlier version portrays exactly three vibrant blooms resting in a prominent green ceramic vessel against a stark light turquoise-blue backdrop.
