Wilson says he was following police directives as they tried to disperse the crowd, but was still pepper-sprayed in the face "point blank for absolutely no reason."

William was probably #PepperSprayed at #PointBlankRange in the face because #SPVM #RiotCops don't like his #photojournalism.

It's not really "shocking" (as in "surprising") in that #abusive #SPVM #RiotCops have been targeting William Wilson & other photographers &or videographers for various forms of #PoliceBrutality for at least 2 years now.

It's to be expected from #MySPVM.

I think every photographer-videographer or journalist who has been assaulted, or otherwise brutalized, by SPVM cops while documenting protests should sign a joint statement condemning that #PoliceBrutality & #PoliceIntimidation.

As a rule, I refrain from calling cops "pigs", and consider ACAB to be an acronym for All Cats Are Beautiful, but that photo by Hugo Genest capturing #SPVM #RiotCops surrounding William Wilson quite appropriately has "Cochon Dingue" in the background. 🤣

In 2013 an upright #SPVM police officer who was trying to dissuade me from exercising my "Charter guaranteed" right to engage in #PeacefulPublicProtest was offended that I addressed her & her partner with "tu" instead of the more formal "vous".

I expect she would have ticketed me if she could have.

On May 1st 2026, at least two #SPVM #RiotCops couldn’t be professionals, so they not only didn’t deserve my respect, they deserved being called assholes for gratuitously assaulting me while I was documenting the #MayDay Workers' Rights protest.
