@aletheakontis.comLOL #SFFChat it would probably be easier to list the ones that haven't inspired me.
One of the coolest characters I ever created in this vein is a chimera named Betwixt (from HERO) who is under a glitchy spell that makes him constantly shape change into new mashups of random legendary animals.

Warning that this is an extremely rough draft, but here's the first mention of a unicorn in the short story I'm currently working on!
@anna-orridge.bsky.social#SFFChat. Thanks so much for hosting - hope you enjoyed it.
Here is the link to Parch Marks, a cli fi mystery featuring antiquities crime, the Bronze Age and some definite hints of folk horror.
@vincentlore.bsky.socialIn Runner Owen, the vampire only known as the Scarred Man is one. He's so ancient there are stories passed down about him. Most people don't believe he's still alive or actually existed in the first place... Owen knows better!

@aletheakontis.comHello #SFFChat!
I am Princess Alethea Kontis, researcher of much folklore and author of many fairytales.
I should also let you know that I am solidly in the camp of people who prefers their manticores with scorpion tails.
Every time this comes up in one of my stories I make a point of saying it! 😂
@vincentlore.bsky.socialNot intentionally, I think, though I have come up with a few urban legends for scrapped or back burner stories.

Micah in Sweet & Wild does not believe in the legend of the beast in the woods around Roseyard. That's because he knows the "beast" and it's actually Terran, a guardian spirit of nature.
@vincentlore.bsky.socialHi #SFFChat I'm Vincent, trans man author of mostly trans man led fiction.
I'm a sucker for vampires (no pun intended), but if we're talking creatures strictly? Probably dragons. Maybe unicorns, too, but I was the kid who had a dragon phase as a child...

So I’m gonna share a snippet of from my short story
Snip 1:Drifting Waves
Our first look at the Siren(The Siren is NB btw)
Snip2:The Deeper We Go
Our description of the Cave Crawler(This is after he ate two of the MC’s friends)
@rhysackhurst.bsky.socialLu's older brother Sid told him the myth that snapdragons are baby fairy nests when they were kids. He didn't believe him until he saw the seed pods of the flowers he picked and cried so hard Sid had to get their sisters to calm him down.
Even as an adult, Lu still side-eyes snapdragons.

Absolutely! Currently, I'm working on a short story that focuses on a unicorn! I love the myths of the unicorn, so it's fun to work it into a queer fantasy story!
@sayaashrah.bsky.social#SFFChat Outro. Thanks for hosting! One day left in the LGBTQ+ Gothic, Fantasy, and Horror Bundle, so hurry up if you want it and haven't grabbed it yet!

Hello! I'm Alex Larkspur and I write queer fantasy!
One of my favorite magical creatures is the unicorn! I know that's more of a fantasy creature, but they're on my mind at the moment!
@otakureview.bsky.socialFirst, a reminder that starting in Nov I'm ranking every ep of Red Dwarf as my new non-fiction series.
