John Hill Senior (1836-1918)
Milford, Oakland County Michigan.

John was an immigrant from England who married a widowed Englishwoman, Mary Jane, in Milford ~1860. Together they had 7 children. One daughter, Lizzie, ingested carbolic acid to end her life in 1922.

We just got back from visiting our #daughter and #grandson. They currently reside in #Arlington #Texas.
Here are the two things that I learned.
The #freeways are just dumb. At times there are so many overlays on a single piece of roadway, that even using #Apple #Maps I got lost twice.

Everyone's postcard of Kampong Phluk shows the village floating on a flooded forest.

The houses sit on stilts. Every monsoon the Tonle Sap reverses and floods the trees. That's the only time it floats.

The rest of the year it's a village standing in mud. #geography #maps

Lighthouses of Alaska's Inside Passage. The big stations sweep, harbor lights and buoys blink on the rhythm printed on the chart. Sentinel Island and Five Finger, lit in 1902, were the first US lighthouses in Alaska.
