Data visualisation has the power to be the most effective content for your interface, if executed correctly. It can answer questions with a few systematic glances. Get it wrong and it overwhelms. #data #datavisualization #datastorytelling #UX

In the most recent AKA session, a student asked about a frustrating #DataVisualization problem: a carefully formatted combo #PivotChart looked perfect until new forecast data was added. One refresh later, the formatting was gone. 😠
I reproduced the issue and was upfront that there's no clean fix. 🧡

When Your PivotChart Falls Apart
If a PivotChart keeps breaking on refresh, change the foundation instead of fighting the formatting.

Forgiveness Translated Into Abstract Sound
#AbstractExpressionism #DataVisualization #GestturalArt #AIArt

A wide, horizontal painting on raw linen canvas featuring bold, gestural brushstrokes that appear to spell out letters or a word across the composition. The artwork progresses from left to right in a sequence of distinct colors: dark chocolate brown strokes on the far left, followed by a vibrant golden yellow wash, then soft dusty rose and pink tones in the center, bold white sweeping marks overlapping the middle, and finally a sky blue on the far right with visible paint drips cascading downward. The background is the natural warm beige of unprimed linen, which remains exposed throughout. The brushwork is expressive and fluid, combining both thick impasto application and translucent watercolor-like washes, creating a layered interplay of textures. The overall mood is energetic and spontaneous, with the dripping blue paint on the right edge adding a sense of raw immediacy. The piece is displayed against a neutral light gray background, emphasizing its horizontal format and vibrant color palette.

In the newsletter: "Visualization as epistemic representation" openvisualizationacademy.beehiiv.com/p/visualizat... Or: Building bridges between information design and the philosophy of science & scientific representation #dataViz #dataVisualization #infographics

A diagram depicting the cycle of epistemic representation. An object called the "vehicle" (a chart, for example) represents another object, called the "target" (for instance, a data set). The reader of the "vehicle" can make inferences about the vehicle itself, and later they can use those inferences to make inferences about the "target"
