It may be time for #Commanders owner Josh Harris to fire up that high-powered search committee again. You know, the one that worked around the clock to find the coach who would lead this franchise out of the abyss, only to hire Dan Quinn? My column www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/oc...

#Commanders HC Dan Quinn said he's "furious" about the team's execution late against the Giants. He added they didn't intend to take that long to snap the ball before their final play.

"We've got a lot of shit to clean up on," he said.

Something we still haven't gotten a clear answer on: If the #Commanders knew they had no timeouts, then why was there no urgency to get set after Daniels was sacked? Daniels didn't move until he looked over and saw the coaches reacting. His teammates didn't seem aware either:

On Nabers' TD, the #Commanders sent a 5-man pressure with off man coverage. Sainristil opened up his hips, which left him unable to recover when Nabers turned the route inside. Poor technique by Mikey, but I still don't like allowing free releases there to begin with:

Still don't get the #Commanders' approach on Likely's second TD. It's 4th-and-8. They sent a 6-man pressure, which is fine, but they were playing off coverage, which gave Likely and Nabers free releases. Robertson both went with Nabers, which left Likely wide open.

My screen time report this week is going to be 99% just me constantly refreshing my phone to see if Dan Quinn has been fired yet.

#Commanders coverage stats of note per NFL Pro:

- CB Rasul Douglas: 7 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD
- CB Mike Sainristil: 4 catches, 69 yards, 1 TD
- LB Sonny Styles: 4 catches, 46 yards, 1 TD
- CB Fabian Moreau: 4 catches, 33 yards
- CB Amik Robertson: 3 catches, 30 yards

The #Commanders' defense blitzed on 39% of the Giants' dropbacks per NFL Pro, but didn't have as much success. They had just two sacks and a pressure rate of 33.9%. That helped Jameis Winston light up the secondary for 326 yards and 3 TDs.

The #Commanders were blitzed on 59.5% of their drop backs against the Giants, per NFL Pro. They allowed a pressure rate of 37.8% and 5 sacks. They struggled in pass protection all game and had no answers for New York's heat.

The #Commanders defense was playing so well to start the game. It feels like part of the second-half collapses is their lack of depth. They were down three safeties, their top corner, two linebackers and two rotational defensive linemen. Fatigue sets in eventually.
