Three deer pause in their munching of a plentiful supply of acorns. Evening shadows stretch across the area. Beyond them, an overgrown field leads to an area of brush along the lake. Tall pines loom over them near the edge of denser trees. The sky is streaked with wispy clouds and contrails. We have had daily visits, at all hours from groups of deer of varying ages, attracted by the mast year acorn fall. This is a doe with her two fawns, one from last season and the other from this season (she just lost her spots). Their coats are gradually getting thicker and taking on a gray hue, rather than their warm, red/brown as they prepare for winter.
