Editing 'Her Pride' 21 pages edited, and 1,093 words removed.

Irina does not like snow.

The wind blew past the trees and the hills, and its touch set a chill on Irina’s desert-bred scales. Winter was not an unknown quantity to her kind, though they saw it differently. In their desert domain, winter was a time when the sands were cooler and the fangs of the Black Sun less ominous. Winter was a time of green blooming to life in oases, of birds on their migratory routes passing overhead, of small prey animals entering their mating season. Winter was a glimmer of hope at year’s end, before spring brought with it the usual harshness of an arid realm.
Winter in the Hytherian Plains, Irina learned quickly, was considerably less pleasant. It was a thing that crept upon the body slowly, first as a mild chill in the air that was comfortable as a trap. A way to lull the mind to a false comfort. Then it got colder, the kind of cold that seeped into the bones and made the blood and venom stall. And after that, snow began to fall as greenery began to wither and die out, until it seemed everything that wasn’t linked to a source of heat other than the sun was blanketed in a soft, treacherous white powder.
