Nice forecheck by Vlad Namestnikov to steal the puck, a nice spinning pass by Isak Rosen and a nice finis by Gabe Vilardi.
1-0 #NHLJets late in the first period.

@mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.socialA few early observations from the first period of tonight's #NHLJets game here at CLC:
-Fans seem to have fallen in love quickly with Stuart Skinner. Lots of loud "Stuuuuu" chants after each save.
-Viggo Bjorck can take a hit. He got smoked on first shift, but popped right up.

@gametimeart.bsky.socialGarret as always is an amazing writer and breaks down stats and numbers in a digestable way so that even those that balk at terms such as xGAR and sG can get a better understanding of where the team is and where it might be going.
Always a recommended read for #NHLJets fans.
@garrethohl.bsky.socialWe're back.
Connor Hellebuyck wants out, the #NHLJets have a very different roster, & we’re somehow heading into 2026-27 with a whole bunch of questions.
So… who are the Jets now?
A look at the analytics, camp lines, & Scott Arniel’s new approach.

The #NHLJets will be dealing with a different type of clock management this season.
On permanent daylight time, the scheduling scramble and what it means for the hockey club at home and on the road.

@mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.socialA 5-2 loss by an inexperienced #NHLJets group against a star-studded Edmonton Oilers squad Saturday night was neither surprising nor alarming.
There was, however, plenty to like from the visitors’ perspective despite the outcome.
@olybackstrom.bsky.social15 years ago today, I was at the first #NHLJets 2.0 exhibition game with @chestnutfez.bsky.social. Jets were still replacing the dominant Moose branding in the arena. Adults shedding tears. Buff electrifying the crowd with big CBJ hits out of the gate. Such a charged and fun atmosphere.
@mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social#NHLJets drop the preseason opener in Edmonton by a 5-2 score.
Ford, Julien: 1G
Phillips, Yager, Barlow, Wahlin: 1A
Milic: 23 saves
Edmonton's big guns made a mark: Bouchard 4A, McDavid and Draisaitl 1G, 1A each.
Winnipeg hosts Colorado on Monday.
@mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.socialThe #NHLJets have cut the deficit to 4-2 late in the third period.
Colby Barlow to Lucas Wahlin to Jacob Julien for the goal. Isaak Phillips, who is having a very strong game, would have had the third assist if there was one.
@mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social3-1 Edmonton, as Leon Draisaitl scores on a delayed #NHLJets penalty with just under 8 minutes left in the 2nd period.
@pgp5827.bsky.socialHad the #nhljets stream then I lost it. Can’t get it back.
@claudettegabbs.bsky.socialAfter a few hiccups, the #NHLJets game is streaming with no issues.
@gametimeart.bsky.socialI don't ever take much stock in pre-season of anything in any sport.. but it was slightly encouragint to see the #NHLJets didn't get rolled and smoked in that 1st period save for a 3 minute blip.
@gametimeart.bsky.socialAnd just like that #NHLJets are down 2-1.
It was fun while it lasted.
