Rutherford County in western North Carolina... * Until 845 AM EDT. * At 640 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with additional torrential rainfall moving through eastern Rutherford County. Flash flooding is ongoing. High flows should be expected on area creeks and streams, including along Cleghorn Creek in Rutherfordton, Floyds Creek near Forest City, and Mountain Creek near Green Hill. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect flash flooding of low-lying areas near streams, including parks, trails, low-water crossings, boat- access areas, and campgrounds. Significant flooding of poor-drainage areas are likely, impacting travel. Low-lying roadways are likely to be flooded, requiring barricades. * Some locations that will continue to experience flash flooding include... West Central Caldwell County in western North Carolina... * Until 700 AM EDT. * At 355 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated new rounds of heavy rainfall are approaching northern Burke, western Caldwell, and southeastern Avery County. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen over the past 12 hours with an additional 1-2 inches of rainfall possible. Several streams remain above Minor Flood Stage, including the Wilson Creek and the Johns River. Flash flooding is ongoing and new areas of flash flooding may develop within the next 1-3 hours.
