If the Calzada/Perry pairing was to provide anti-Banda pace, it's already used up one of its get out of jail free cards.

17' Morché saves consecutive shots from Wilson and Tordin #BAONPDX

Portland Thorns will need to find a second goal in this game.

Orlando Pride inexplicably giving Soph acres of space in front of goal...

Oh ny goodness HOW DID THAT NO GO INNNNN. Basically three saves in one sequence by Orlando ahainst Soph (then thre rest of the team lol) #nwsl #baonpdx

That was a gorgeous turn from Soph.

Amazing saves from Morche.

The Portland Thorns have dropped 23 points from winning positions... The most in NWSL history. #BAONPDX

Have they figured out the necessary adjustments or will the nightmare continue?

Time to find out.

Looked like Reyes bought a foul there.

11' Barbra Banda fires off a shot, but it's right at Mackenzie Arnold #BAONPDX #NWSL

Portland Thorns struggling to hold onto any semblance of possession right now.

I like Nina, give me all the dutch players. #baonpdx

What a moment for Nina Nijstad #BAONPDX

Portland Thorns coaches have raved about her since arriving in the Rose City.

First NWSL Goal ⚽
First Portland Thorns Goal 🌹

Great read by Calzada to cut out that potential Banda break.

The Thorns are playing with our hearts like a cat with a dead moose. #baonpdx

And, we nearly hand it back with laughable defending. That was a great last-ditch tackle from Reyna to get a block on the shot.

#BAONPDX

Folks, i just tuned in from work and Nina immediately scored. This one could get ugly, in a good way #BAONPDX

Nijstad!

And that was just nice, simple buildup.

A one/two between Fleming and Reyes gives Reyna space to ping a ball over the top to Soph, who lays off for Nijstad. Easy as you like.

4' NINA NIJSTAD SCORES HER FIRST NWSL GOAL & FIRST AS A PORTLAND THORN.

The midfielder has been so close in recent weeks and the payoff finally comes on a perfect assist from Soph Wilson.

1-0 Portland Thorns #BAONPDX
