Landon Ferraro is going to get major bonus points from me just for sounding like his dad. #NHLJets

Would expect the #NHLJets will be keeping a close eye on the waiver wire in search of a goalie.

And here’s colleague @mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social on Stuart Skinner’s warm reception, Cole Perfetti’s backdoor tap-in and several other observations from the #NHLJets 3-1 win over the #Avs in exhibition play on Monday:

“I’m confident I can do it.”

And here’s my @winnipegfreepress.com teammate, @wiebesworld.bsky.social, with a look at new #NHLJets defenceman Jack St. Ivany, who can hear opportunity knocking.

www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/2026/...

“That felt fantastic.”

A pre-game roar from fans. “Stuuuu” chants after each of his 31 saves.

Yes, the Stuart Skinner era is off to a strong start, as the new No. 1 man in net for the #NHLJets made a great first impression on Monday night.

My story: www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

Stuart Skinner's biggest takeaway from his first #NHLJets game:

"The love from the fans, especially at the beginning there before the anthem, that felt fantastic. The 'Stu' chants around a couple saves, those always feel really good. You can tell how much the fans love it here..." (continued)

Stuart Skinner on his #NHLJets debut (32 shots, 31 saves, countless Stuuuuu chants).

“The love from the fans, especially at the beginning there before the anthems, that felt fantastic. You can tell how much the fans love it here, how much they love their hockey, how much they love their players."

Solid win for the #NHLJets tonight.. Again as always it's preseason against the Avalanche B team and Cale, but somenice positives to take away from the game.

Skinner looked dialed in most of the game, even late when the Avs were threatning a bit.

It’s my favourite time of the year: watching AHL guys look damn solid vs other AHL guys and some 60% effort NHLers and getting way too excited.

In unrelated #nhljets news Jack St Ivany might be a steal

The Stu-ing gets louder with every save. He has 25 of them now, dialed in for his first #NHLJets preseason game.

And Dylan DeMelo claps back for the #NHLJets, firing a wrist shot from the top of the circles that will count. Can you believe the power of the coach's challenge? Can you believe the preseason momentum?

It's 3-0 Winnipeg.

The goal is called back. Stuart Skinner's frustration is vindicated. It's still 2-0 #NHLJets.

Make it 3-0 #NHLJets, as Dylan DeMelo scores from long distance. Gabe Vilardi and Josh Morrissey with the assists.

Stuart Skinner upset with the Avs' goal, hoping for goaltender interference, so the #NHLJets challenge the play.

If it counts, the blast through traffic will cut Winnipeg's lead to 2-1.

And, sure enough, there was goaltender interference. Te Connor McDavid of video coaches (Matty Prefontaine) is clearly in mid-season form. No goal. #NHLJets lead is back to 2-0.

Things I just learned: You CAN use a coach's challenge in the preseason. After Colorado scores to cut the #NHLJets lead to 2-1 here in the 3rd, coach Scott Arniel claims goalie interference. Refs are now reviewing.

Early candidate for #NHLJets goal of the year here. Josh Morrissey to Mark Scheifele, who makes an incredible feed to Cole Perfetti for the wide-open net.

2-0 Winnipeg late in the second period.

Interesting. #NHLJets coach Scott Arniel is using Viggo Bjorck on the penalty kill. And it nearly leads to a shorthanded goal, as the kid sets up Cole Koepke, who shows off some flashy stickhandling on the rush.

As a long-time noted fan of Stuart Skinner.. hearing STUUUUUU chants in Winnipeg makes me smile wide. #NHLJets

Nice forecheck by Vlad Namestnikov to steal the puck, a nice spinning pass by Isak Rosen and a nice finis by Gabe Vilardi.

1-0 #NHLJets late in the first period.
