@calder12.bsky.socialOne day until #LeafsForever hockey!
@mapleleafshotstove.bsky.socialJim Hiller on McKenna's game through two days: "He has found [Tavares & Nylander] with a lot of pucks... He just makes the right play when it needs to be played. Very impressive."
The coach on the D pairs, Matthews-Roslovic & more 👇
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialHappy 76th, Darryl Sittler!
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialHiller on Rielly on right side with Andrae:
"That's not where we envisioned that. Morgan didn't skate with us yesterday. We didn't want to move things all over the place, so I wouldn't read too much into exactly where he's playing. We can skip that one for now."
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialJim Hiller still figuring out lineups for tomorrow but says Sergei Bobrovsky will start tomorrow’s game at home. Not sure how much of it he will play.
Also adds defense that was trotted out today in Group 1 isn’t necessarily set.
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialA note about the split squad games tomorrow vs. Montreal, new Associate Coach Daniel Alfredsson will be handling Toronto's bench on the road.
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialJack Roslovic on his former USNTDP linemate Auston Matthews being the captain of the the Leafs:
“I don't think it's just a testament to his game, I think it's a testament to him as a person, [his actions] sometimes speak louder than his words… as a leader ...
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialAuston Matthews on Gavin McKenna:
“That line (McKenna, Tavares, Nylander) seems to have connected pretty well over the last few days… I think he's fitting in really well with those guys and fit in really well with the team so far and seems very comfortable …
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialAuston Matthews on what former USNTDP linemate Matthew Tkachuk said about Jack Roslovic and reuniting their line without Tkachuk:
“We used to call ourselves the superman line… he told us if we played against them and scored and did the superman celly he was going to k!ll one of us”
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialMatthew Knies on his discussions with GM John Chayka:
“He felt that I was a valuable piece here and that's kind of what I have to earn and show every day… I want to be here…they need me here… keep going with that mindset and hopefully it all works out ...

@leafschronicle.bsky.socialMorgan Rielly is joining GROUP 1 this morning! Bumping Danford to Group 2
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialNylander on Alfredsson joining Leafs: "We have a mutual friend & he never said anything about it so it came as a complete shock, but I was obviously very happy"
on Sundin joining front office: "Pretty crazy seeing two Swedish legends every day"
@leafschronicle.bsky.social"Probably I am still nervous when I see him"
Artur Akhtyamov soaking up every moment around Sergei Bobrovsky & already struck by the work ethic
"He does lots of workout, lots of stretching. When I came in our gym room, he's every time here"
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialBrendan Brisson also living with Tavares during camp
"He's got the saunas, the cold tubs, the Normatecs, the red light, everything to help your game & it's awesome to watch ... Me & Gavin are maybe making a few jokes but we're also following along a bit."
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialPRESEASON 1 — Saturday, September 19 @ 7pm:
(SBA - Game 1): TSN2 & TSN4
(Bell Centre - Game 2): SN1
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialHiller on McKenna:
“I’m not looking for Gavin, but what I saw today, I see Gavin. Tanev had him in the corner in a tight drill. I saw him dance away and do a nice little backhand sauce pass into space. That jumps out. Thought Tanev was going to contain him.”
@leafschronicle.bsky.socialToronto's new eBug for 2026-27 is Brendan Bonello, who is number 00 like all eBugs.
