Cat tries again and again
Tenaciously climbs

The cry was faint
But demanding
Followed the sound
Under a porch
Curled in a ball
Trembling boy
With shaggy dog
Tentatively
I extended
My arm to him
He shrank away
Dog sniffed my hand
Child slowly reached
Hours before
He was ready
To leave that place

the threads that ties us
each moon has its own story
each night its own cry

yesterday or
will it soar

A tenacious cry
amid such stormy hearts -
gotta turn that woe inside out
save barbed wire they threw your way
for boundaries insofar as anything about them goes.
Nothing there defies a stifled tear
from a heart the least bit complicated
by whiles soaked in unfair weather.

we live oblivious
