@jwerner247.bsky.socialThree big thoughts on #Illini parting ways with DC Bobby Hauck after four games
@kshermansports.bsky.socialWow! Bobby Hauck had a short stint in Champaign.
I get the defense is struggling, but still a bit shocked by this. #Illini
@andrewdeffley.bsky.socialHauck gone. WTF Bret doing studying/vetting these guys, interviewing them, & hiring them??
The day BH was hired, reports were readily available that Hauck lives in a) half Cover 1 with CBs on an island/half Cover 3 shell, with b) criticism of dropping 8 too often (Aaron Henry’s bugaboo).
@eslam00.bsky.socialCollege football shockwave: Illinois parts ways with defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck following their tough matchup against Ohio State. Is this the fastest coordinator reset of the season? 🏈📉 #CollegeFootball #Illini
@davidbloomberg.bsky.socialWell, THAT #Illini football experiment didn’t last long!

@jwerner247.bsky.socialNEWS: #illini have parted ways with defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck after four games
@kshermansports.bsky.socialIllinois RB Aidan Laughery had an impressive showing against Ohio State in Columbus.
The senior rushed the ball 11 times for 113 yards. #Illini
@andrewdeffley.bsky.socialIt was another one of these days yesterday, but I still see ways to overcome it.
@jwerner247.bsky.socialThe #illini offense missed opportunities at Ohio State. But after running and passing for more yards against the Buckeyes than anyone during the last two seasons, the UI offense looked dangerous.
"We can go compete with anybody in the country."
@kshermansports.bsky.socialThe country needs to keep a close eye on Illinois basketball superstar Berry Wallace

@andrewdeffley.bsky.socialJust listened to Bret’s postgame presser.
Two straight coordinators where head Coach Bielema criticized his play caller’s pass rush priorities.
If you’re like me and want to aggressively hunt the QB like Ryan Walters did, then what’s been your vetting process in hiring guys since?
@andrewdeffley.bsky.socialSo yeah, I’m still perturbed about Lunney’s approach squandering a great drive to the Buckeyes red zone—almost by design—to try to make it 28-20.
But other than that, I’m coming out of this Ohio State game feeling better than I did going in.

Coach Bielema failed to do this with his hand-picked protégé and former player Aaron Henry from 2023-25, but I have fresh hope Bret will roll up his sleeves on Bobby Hauck in 2026 like he did with Ryan Walters after Virginia ran roughshod over us in 2022.
@andrewdeffley.bsky.social1/2
I feel pretty okay today.
Houser spreading the ball around more, and I like our run blocking better—even with OL banged up as a unit—this season than I have in a long time.
Defensive #Illini players are fighting hard and beginning to out-execute the strategy of their coordinator.
