We're throwing all the way back to 1860 for this week's #tbt. Helen Clark was part of a group traveling to Colorado, following the Platte River. She was Unimpressed by Kearney.

Clark's diary was published by the Denver Public Library. #Nebraska #archives

Diary of Helen E. Clark; May 24, 1860. We arrived at Kearney city an hour before sundown, where the first sight we see is a drunken, half naked beast (called man) who is kicking, yelling & swearing and howling. Rather a poor looking advertisement for Kearney City to hang out. The city is about half as large as the fort, but it is far from having the order that is their striking feature. Edward goes off to a camp where sees women, he soon returns saying they are very slovenly

If you are not familiar with ADABI, look them up. They have saved hundreds of smaller civil and church archives in Mexico. I used them for the church archives in Tepalcingo, Morelos, and the organization and quality was wonderful. #history #Academicsky #méxico #MX #Archives adabi.org.mx

This delightful childhood notebook by folklorist Theo Brown captures a caravan holiday on Dartmoor in the 1920s through a series of charming stories and illustrations.
