Tagebucheintrag vom 27. September 1934 Wir waren letzten Sonnabend bei den »anständigen« Köhlers; es war nett wie immer. Vater Köhler sagte mit echtem Gefühl: Was muss das für Sie bedeuten, dass nun das so lange ersehnte Haus fertig wird! - Ich prüfe meine Gefühle, sie sind sehr gemischt. Gewiss ein Segen für Eva, aber ein dauernder? Aber dann sage ich mir eben: für Eva, für den Zeitrest, er mag nun groß oder klein sein. Und am Schluss gleicht sich das alles aus in dem Endurteil: unwesentlich wie alles andere auch. Unsere Freunde, Karl Wieghardt, Ellen Wengler, zuletzt Trude Öhlmann, haben das Häuschen, den Garten in ihren verschiedenen Stadien photographiert, und für diese Bilder haben wir ein Album gekauft. Da sieht man das nackte Gelände mit dem Zaun, dann den Keller allein, dann das Richtfest usw.Diary entry on September 27, 1934 Last Saturday we were at the "respectable" Kohlers; it was nice as ever. Father Kohler said with real feeling: How much that must mean to you, that the house you longed for is at last being completed! - I examine my feelings, they are very mixed. A blessing for Eva certainly, but a lasting one? But then I simply say to myself: for Eva, for the time that remains, be it long or short. And in the end it all balances out in the final judgment - it matters as little as everything else. Our friends, Karl Wieghardt, Ellen Wengler, finally Trude Ohlmann, have taken photographs of the little house, of the garden, and we have bought an album for these pictures. There one can see the bare patch of ground with the fence, then the cellar by itself, then the roof-raising party, etc.
