A Dunnock perched on an Elder branch at the edge of the forest. The bird is centre of frame, in side profile looking left so its left side is visible. Its head is turned slightly towards the camera. It has a slender bill, its head has a bluish grey which continues to the upper breast. The rest of its plumage is a rich brown with bold black streaks throughout. The branch the bird is perched on is bare and travels from the bottom left of the frame to almost the top right. Another branch can be seen at the same angle in the top left and there are smaller branches throughout the shot. The background is out of focus greens
