Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S4E9 “Once La’an a Time” 9/17/26
We return to the Elysian Kingdom, but this time on a REAL fantasy planet.

Since Carol Kane joined #StarTrekSNW, I've been waiting for her character to say something like "Have fun storming the castle".

Referencing a chef named Max and calling him a miracle worker is a good alternative.

Imagine how much it would suck to be at a party full of whoever those incel losers were that flooded IMDB to give a 4.3 out of 10 star rating to yesterday's "fantasy land"-type episode of #StarTrekSNW.

Do have they no idea how to just enjoy something fun?

"Once La'an A Time" was....whatever. I say the same thing as every other genre-warping episode. The cast did great. The execution was good. It was a romp. A lark, if you will.

It really comes down to how much of a slut you are for the tried-and-true competency porn at this point. #StarTrekSNW

#Speculation for #StarTrekSNW:

I REALLY hope that Una, La'an, and Erica survive, but...

My theory is that Una may sacrifice herself for the crew. 😕

In a last-ditch effort to save her, her mind is uploaded to the mainframe of the ship and becomes the template for the Starfleet OS.

I'm enjoying this season of Strange New Worlds, but... if you're going to do half a season of genre pastiche episodes, why not tie them together with a single explanation?

Different genre each week, and the season arc is figuring out why you're in a different genre each week.

People can hate on this season of #StarTrekSNW all they want, but I bet the actors had a freaking blast filming it.

#StarTrekSNW spoiler alert 🚨

I’m really hoping La’an does a Gillian Taylor at the end of the series: She kisses Kirk on the cheek, tells him she’ll see him around the galaxy, and then goes off on her own adventure with Una, Ortegas, and Mitchell which can be explored in a tv or novel series.

That said, I think that it has set up an arc that will eventually lead to to the revelation of La'An's fate (and reason for not being seen in the 'in universe' future, and creative past episodes.

Also felt that Pike referring to Pelia as Benny Russel was a bit distasteful. 'Far Beyond The Stars' of one of the franchise's most powerful episodes, with serious social commentary. Poking fun at it was unnecessary.

"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" (4.9 ['Once La'An a Time'])
After last week, this was a bit disappointing. Fun in its own right, and definitely had great comic moments. But still part of an excessive ratio of quirky to serious episodes.

I miss when #StarTrek was *real* Star Trek & never silly, & science was always distinguishable from magic. 😂 #StrangeNewWorlds #StarTrekSNW
