I've often emphasised how Ata's eyes shine or outright stated she sees better in the dark than most people. So this was a nice chance to give an explicit explanation, while also doing some worldbuilding.

"I’m afraid it’s bad news Sir Corbyn,” that spindly doctor gestured at a seat and only explained after he complied, “Ata is very sick. Have you noticed that her eyes shine in darkness, like those of a beast?”
“Well, Y LLoegr changes folks,” Sir Corbyn brushed a bare hand against her dirt-black hair, “I’ve seen stranger, especially in America.”
“Yes, though mutations carry great risk,” a detailed lecture on their dangers followed. Though the old knight only understood its point once Pry concluded with a request, “my research was on helping Cewri and others expunge this malady so they can live longer. I need my supplies.”
“I can’t leave her, Pry,” this man’s timber shivered under his temper, until an old grief drowned him, “I can’t let her go through this alone…”
