9 Feb, 5 Sept: St Alto, O.S.B. (d 760) of #Altomünster, Duchy of #Bavaria #Germany. Irish Benedictine abbot. Lived as hermit near Munich & Augsburg. King Pepin the Short gave him some wooded land on which to build a monastery. Became Altomünster Abbey; market town grew up around. #medievalsky #saint
