Micah: “As much as I think I could benefit from some logical thinking, it’s hard for me to separate my emotions from anything. And I wouldn’t really want to. The way I feel, and others feel, is important. I don’t want to dismiss that.”

“Ah, nobody will ever accuse me of being very bookish. I wouldn’t say I *only* act based on my emotions, but certainly I’m most often guided to take an action by whether it feels good or right.”

“I have always trusted my gut for such things.”

Why’s that Cole?

“Cause logic doesnt always account for the random spurts of good luck that I find myself encountering just by following my intuition.”

Hm, has it ever gotten you into trouble?

Angie: The 2nd person I dated at UF told me that the 1st person I dated called me "the spreadsheet", and that that was why she dumped me.

Fair.

I'm not a Vulcan. I'm not T'Pal. But I do need things to make sense, and for raw emotion not to overpower empirical facts.

I'm probably not the best for this.

Assassin training taught me to be cold and calculating. Poisons were my speciality, everything needs to be precise.

But if it were not for emotions I would not be able to feel if I were in danger, and that is also a useful skill.

#QueerCharChat 18: Logic v Emotion

K: So much of my job involves intuition & risk. What do I think my customers will like? And if I went entirely on logic, especially as this trade war looms, I would just get out.

But if I'm not thinking, I can overextend & make a bad investment. Both are crucial!

Kyoka: "Well... I'd say that I just learned the value of raw emotion after--Um. I-I'll say that my mom taught how important emotion is, and that it shouldn't be ignored. And with how I feel growing up, that helps me more than the logic I'm... used to."

#QueerCharChat Day 18 - Rowan

Intuition first, with fact checking before making a decision. My family have the kind of vibe reading ability and attention to detail that makes them seem psychic at times. I aspire to that level of insight, but I still need to check my intuition is right before I act.

As an autistic, and maybe it isn't because I'm autistic but it feels like maybe it is, I tend to be analytical, literal-minded.

People tell me sometimes that they feel they can trust me to always tell them what I'm thinking — 🧵

"An odd question for me, my dear #QueerCharChat. For the only logic I particularly value is narrative logic, and the only emotions I feel, amusement and its absence.

I suppose I am governed by my desire for amusement, but I have been called cold in its pursuit, as I lack finer feelings."

Black, white, and red drawing of Lord Blackthorne, a tall white nobleman dressed in early 1660s doublet and petticoat breeches, with billowing white shirt, bright red stockings, and red-heeled shoes decorated with profuse ribbon. He's got long wavy dark hair, a long face with light smallpox scars and long eyelashes, and a curly mustache and goatee, and gives a louche smirk to the viewer as he sprawls out on a couch, showing off his legs. Sorry, he insists I repost this artwork every single response so that you have to look at them.

I’m not so sure there’s too much of a difference.
I mean Pathos and Ethos work best in tandem.

Also at the MoH circumstances matter more than actions.

I’m not sure if anything I said made sense.

I guess the point I’m trying to make it is
It’s logical to be emotional

Tiferet scoffs a bit. "Raw emotions are fickle things. Especially when you have...cravings, as I do. No; I can't afford to succumb to them. I have to consider the potential consequences of millions of tiny decisions at any given moment, both to ensure my safety and others'."

Well, h... I mean... do we really want to call logic "cold"? Does that not kind of inflict an emotional bias on the question?
Would that make emotions "warm" by comparison? I would argue not!

But yes, logic must be a key driver when assessing...

Virgil: What? *Turns to Zed* What the hell is "Alexithymia"?

Zed: A psychological condition that means you don't know how you feel. I gave it you because I have it.

Virgil: Well, thank you so much... 😠

Logic. Think first, then feel. Common sense helps.

“I like most things to be logical, but if being right is going to make you miserable, then it really needs to be weighed against the importance of the question. Emotions have value. There are times where the most logical choice is to be wrong.”

Betti: the guild trained me to use logic for most situations. When it comes to Handsome, most of that goes out the window. But he's the most logical with everything, even my emotional smothering doesn't sway him.
Kalua: hm, emotional smothering is a fair term for you. I'm impressed.

Beverly: Work requires that I focus on the facts, not on what I think or feel.

This question is pretty straight forward. It is seeing if your characters prefer logical information over emotional information. If you want to delve deeper, you can ask them why they feel this way.
