John Cole updates the fable: Legal Process plods under a storm of rights, appeals and due process while the “𝖍𝖆𝖗𝖊-𝖇𝖗𝖆𝖎𝖓” bounds ahead. If the rabbit foot fits, eh? 🐢🐇⚖️📜 #EditorialCartoon #DueProcess #Satire

John Cole editorial cartoon. A weary tortoise in a black judicial robe labelled “LEGAL PROCESS” crawls slowly around a red dashed track while clutching a judge’s gavel. Papers whirl through the air around it, labelled with legal and constitutional issues including immigration, election law, appeals, press, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, habeas, courts and due process. At right, a grinning, blond-haired hare bounds ahead with papers tucked behind him, seemingly unconcerned with the tortoise or the legal debris in his wake. Beneath the scene, Cole captions the cartoon: “THE TORTOISE and THE HARE-BRAIN.”

Pedro X. Molina’s punchline is savage: recalled foods get red checks; the caricature labeled “RFK Jr” —𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥-𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘝𝘈𝘊𝘊𝘐𝘕𝘌𝘚 𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘯— is the unchecked box. 🥬🌶️🥚🫐💉 #EditorialCartoon

Editorial cartoon by Pedro X. Molina, signed 2026. A red banner across the top reads, “RECALLED FOR BEING DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH.” Beneath it is a 2-by-3 grid styled like a recall checklist. Five panels show food items beside boxes marked with large red check marks: a green head of cabbage, a green chile pepper, a plastic tray of raw ground meat, two eggs, and a bowl of blueberries. The sixth, lower-right panel has an empty checkbox. It shows a scowling caricature with “RFK Jr” written on his suit, a red-and-white button reading “VACCINES” crossed out by a slash, and a limp dead raccoon held up by its tail. Colored germ-like speckles surround the images. The joke equates the unchecked figure with the recalled foods: Molina suggests he, too, is dangerous to public health and ought to be “recalled.” At lower left are Molina’s signature, “2026,” and “Tribune Content Agency.”

Bart van Leeuwen’s gag is merciless: the robot promises to exterminate humanity, while “Mr. No Intelligence” calls AI risk a hoax. 🤖⚠️🪧 #EditorialCartoon #AI #Satire

Editorial cartoon by Bart van Leeuwen on a plain white background. At left, a small silver humanoid robot with glowing red eyes holds a placard reading “I’M GONNA EXTERMINATE HUMANITY.” At right, a caricatured blond man in a blue suit, white shirt and long red tie holds a placard overhead reading “AI RISK IS A HOAX,” with “HOAX” in large red letters. The robot stands rigidly with one arm raised; the man’s mouth is open and his eyebrows are furrowed. Along the bottom, the robot is labelled “MR. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” and the man “MR. NO INTELLIGENCE.” The joke contrasts the robot’s explicit threat with the man’s denial that AI poses a danger.

"Never Forget"

25 years later, we still mourn the 2,977 lives lost. The #MilitaryIndustrialComplex mourns nothing—it just cashes the check. My new #cartoon on 9/11, the war machine, and the millions of names that have yet to be counted.

#art #digitalart #editorialcartoon #illustration #WarOnTerror

Twenty-five years ago, nearly 3,000 people were murdered in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. We built a memorial to them—two reflecting pools in the footprints of the Twin Towers, surrounded by the names of the dead. It is a place of solemnity, of reverence, of national grief.

My latest cartoon, "Never Forget," asks a simple question: what about everyone else?

The image is stark. A man, dressed in red, white, and blue, holds an American flag in one hand and presses his white hat to his chest with the other. He stands before the 9/11 Memorial, his posture reverent. But he has turned away from it—his gaze drawn toward something behind him.

There stands a girl, her hand resting against a wall. It is a wall of black marble, so vast it seems to stretch into eternity. Millions of tiny names are etched into it. Above them, the names of countries: Iraq. Iran. Yemen. Libya. Palestine. Afghanistan. Pakistan. Burkina Faso. Mali. Niger. Nigeria. Chad. Somalia. Lebanon. Sudan. Ethiopia. Indonesia. West Papua. The Philippines. Cameroon. Kenya. Every nation touched by the global "War on Terror" the United States unleashed after 9/11.

The man asks, "What's that?"

The girl answers, "The rest of us."
