So cool how the refs literally made up a phantom tripping call and the Mammoth score right after. 👍

#CBJ

Sergachev from Guenther and Keller on the game's first goal, putting Utah up 1-0 on #CBJ with a ppg.

Kelly Sutherland and Brandon Schrader are a couple of whistle-happy refs tonight at the Nationwide Arena. Three penalties on the #CBJ so far, one wiped out because they admitted it was a mistake. The other two: A slash on Mateychuk (it was a mere touch) and a trip on Voronkov (a push and a dive).

Utah takes a 1-0 lead on a gift PP from the zebras with 8:05 left in the first period. #CBJ

Hey, look, another penalty on the #CBJ ... and this one's an uncalled dive that sends Voronkov to the box.

Utah has gotten away with at least two blatant interference plays that were either not called or overlooked by refs Brandon Schrader (#34) and Kelly Sutherland, and we're barely 10 mins into the game.

Brutal officiating start to this game.

#CBJ and Mammoth still knotted at 0-0.

Whoa Z was that a little fight from you? MORE of that please. #CBJ

Refs admitting they got something wrong and letting a Columbus player out the box? Is that allowed? Either way, rare ref W. #CBJ

Almost halfway through the first period, it's 0-0 and Utah has edges over the #CBJ in attempts (14-6) and shots (4-2)

Utah captain Clayton Keller zipping around out there with his jersey tucked. No penalty has been assessed. #CBJ

#CBJ Wow, video production is SO much better this year on the game broadcast. Nice to finally have a professional TV product.

I believe that was veteran ref Kelly Sutherland who made that "slash" call on Mateychuk there. That's one of the worst calls I've ever seen an NHL ref make ... and I've seen some bad calls in my day. My god.

#CBJ

Mateychuk called for slashing that was, at best, a very slight hook after he was beaten to a puck sent deep into the #CBJ zone

A lot of sports on right now. Gonna do my best to keep up with the Guardians while watching the Jackets. Regular season hockey is still better than playoff baseball

#CBJ

Cannon fire has sounded. Time for ice hockey in Columbus.

#CBJ hosting Utah in the second game of the season for each.

Moment of silence here at Nationwide Arena in honor of Lyle Odelein, the first captain of the #CBJ. Odelein died of an apparent heart attack at age 58 Friday. RIP, Odie.

Starters, scratches, lineups, coaches, zebras for #CBJ vs #Tusksup tonight at Nationwide Arena.

#CBJ lines vs. Utah tonight. Voronkov moves up to second line, Garland down to 4th.
