I'm surprised not all my photos sucked. It was raining. The animals behind glass or screens could barely be seen because of glare or raindrops. But I got to see #animals I've never seen before & probably would never get to see wild.

The Mount Kilimanjaro black-and-white colobus monkey (Colobus caudatus) is a striking primate known for its luxurious white mantle of fur and long, fluffy tail.

I was ecstatic to see some lizard lanterns displayed. It was worth the wait to get a shot of this dude.

The lantern festival was definitely one of my favourite recent trips. It was worth the literal all day outing. Being able to see the nocturnal animals was a nice bonus.

Preparing a visit to the #zoo with some preliminary sketches. I have very little experience with drawing live animals, but I know they won't be as still as my photo reference 😄

Turns out the 'nerds' at the zoo are actually sneaky bastards who rule the library turf. Who knew they weren't as harmless as they look? #zoo #animals

Fun fact: When food is scarce, they can retreat into a snow den, lower their heart rate and metabolism, and hunker down for up to two weeks

Fun fact: Okapi adults secrete a sticky, tar-like substance from scent glands on their hooves to mark their territory.

Cletey loves to beat his chest! You can see him mid display in the first photo.

And his adventures with hay are a lot of fun to watch.

Little Miss Stevie was interested in my camera! And I felt very honored to have her attention between playtime and grooming.
