WIP Wednesday card, Book 1, Chapter 2. Excerpt: “If no one knew, how do you know, Grandpa?” asked the boy. His grandpa smiled. “Your old grandpa knows a thing or two, you know.” “You’re not old though,” the boy said with a grin. His grandpa chuckled softly, his heart soaring, his soul aglow with the flames of hope and love. “I’m no spring chicken either. That’s why you call me Grandpa.”

"You're soaked," Chan says.
Felix looks at him. His mouth tightens, but otherwise his face barely changes, which somehow makes the hurt in his eyes more obvious. Immediately, Chan wishes that he hadn't said anything.
"Yeah."
"I'll get you a towel."
"Chan."
He's already turning toward the bathroom when Felix says it again, quieter this time.
"Chan."
The anger has dropped out of his voice. That's what stops him. Chan turns back. Felix has pushed his hood down. His hair is plastered to his forehead, darker with rain, water tracking slowly down the side of his face.
Chan remembers kissing him there.
His stomach turns over.
A week, and apparently that's all it takes. One look at Felix standing in his hallway and Chan

White text on a black background, which reads:

"Okay!" Calla calls back, as she moves slowly and surely forward, the massive fern that she can see right in front of her clearly being what's stopping her from seeing the pond already, before she sticks a hand out, swipes the ferns leaf aside and finally comes to witness the fabled pond Sunni had dragged her too.

Which Calla had to admit was quite a beautiful sight as she breaks through the dense weeds which protect it from discovery, it nearly enclosed on all sides by deep green foliage that happened around bodies of water. However with an open top of tree canopy which let's in enough light to illuminate the entire area of the pond and it's banks, shining off the top of the gently flowing water in dabbled spotlights of rainbows. It was also deep enough, going the multiple sections which were a deep inviting blue, to provide reasonable depth as a swimming pond, instead of the shallow light blue ponds that often dotted the woodlands and which didn't provide much in the way of swimming except to very young children.

Calla felt herself say, "It's beautiful."

At which point Sunni perked up from her position slightly closer to the pond, "Knew you'd like it Calla."

"How did you even find this pond Sunni? It looks nearly untouched." Calla questioned as she moved closer and deposited her large woollen cloak onto the dewy grass the severed as the bank to the pond, spreading it out lightly with her foot.

"Oh me and Cubbi were following the river that feeds it," Sunni said as she pointed to the river that was clearly the source of the pond, "and then suddenly we were here. I think the tough ferns keep most humans out, they're all along the bank of the river when coming in and as you just walked through. They're easy for a Gummi Bear to walk around, but I guess humans just have too much trouble with them to follow the river to this pond."
“Hmm, no, I wouldn’t know, kind of the problem, but I can’t say I missed my phone after I abandoned it.”

“Which reminds me, I still need your phone number.”

“Nah, chucked the fucker in a snowbank. I’m free, man.”

“Do you accept carrier pigeons?”

“Couriers, U.S. mail.”

“Letters in bottles?”

“Tossed up on my balcony? Problematic, with the potential glass breakage, but let’s try it.”

Stede laughed. “I’m just going to have to scale it in a proper Romeo situation.”

“As long as we do our best to not have a tragic misunderstanding.” Ed watched the marshmallows dissolving in his cocoa.

“I’m too old for tragic misunderstandings. I’ve outgrown them entirely. But ours, us, it wasn’t…it wasn’t a misunderstanding. I did what I thought I had to do, and I was wrong.”

'I told you Lucius, it's SUPPOSED to be top secret. Need to know basis only. If Stede has found out..!'
'He hasn't babes, promise. I told you, he was too pissed for most of the journey to even notice I was there anyway, let alone what I was up to. In the mornings he was mostly pissed at you for "casting him alone upon the cruel sea" or whatever, and in the evenings he just got plain old pissed on fancy liquor with that Jeffery, crying about how much he misses you and trying to read us Shakespearean sonnets. It was kinda cute, in an old-man-pouting kinda way. At least it was the first night... Aaanyway, let's get these things in before it rains again, yeah?' Lucius says, noticing Ed's expression turn even more murderous than it was when he suspected him of blowing Stede's surprise.
