FINAL: #RedSox swept away in American League Wild Card Series.
An up-and-down Sox season ends quickly, quietly, before October, and yet again without a postseason game played at Fenway Park.

#RedSox Manager Tracy on using Garrett Crochet tonight: "I think the clean inning was about as good as we could make it. He was throwing hard so we were finding a lane to put the previous inning down and then give him a clean inning to operate with…obviously it just didn't go our way."
Not happy with the GM either. We still have a logjam in LF and we once again ran out of pitching after Guerrero and Slaten went down. We also traded away a starter knowing that Tolle and Bennett needed rest. #RedSox
The lineup construction was questionable too. The team was rolling with Sogard, Rafaela, Abreu and Contreras batting 1-4, but they chose to break that up when players returned from injury. Anthony should not have hit leadoff. Cedanne should not have hit 5th. #RedSox
Well, that sucks. #RedSox
I'm not pleased with Tracey's job there. The winning streak was historically great, but he missed the chance to rest some guys, and we paid the price.
#RedSox Manager Tracy on leaving starters in the game longer: "If we were able to put up some runs and maybe have some more breathing room, we might be able to do that, but [we were] trying to be aggressive and create tough match-ups, it just didn't work out."
#RedSox Manager Tracy: "Regardless of all the special things that happened in the summer, and there were quite a few, the goal is to win the World Series and that ended for us tonight. It's frustrating." Says, "It's going to take some time to get over that."
The finale of every #RedSox season ends with the WEEI Boston broadcasters reading this poem. It pretty much sums up all the feelings.
#RedSox Manager Chad Tracy said he addressed the team briefly after tonight's loss but declines to get into specifics. "Obviously, everybody's disappointed so I'll keep it between us, but I love the group of players and I'll leave it at that."
While it was incredible at the time, the 5 or 6 weeks the #RedSox were unbeatable obscures fact this was a mediocre team that had a mediocre season
2026 Sox won fewer regular season & playoff games than 2025 team…and problems with offensive production at end of 2025 are still there at end of 2026
😔
In this American League Wild Card Series #RedSox offense went 7-for-60 (.117) with 4 extra-base hits, 3 walks, and 19 strikeouts.
BOS pitching allowed 18 earned runs over the 2-game series with 4 home runs, 8 walks, and 14 strikeouts.
Ah, #RedSox ❤️
I can't even say I'm disappointed. How could I be?
The season that began as an unending nightmare ended as an improbable dream.
It's been a topsy-turvy 162.
Cannot wait to see what they do next year.

Thank you to the Boston Red Sox for a fantastic season! Disappointed with how it ended in New York, but can take away from a great summer! Let’s get healthy, add some more power hitters and make a run in 2027.
