The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) 🎬

A Texas documentary style slasher. The heavy voiceover & score felt like a detective video game (L.A. Noire vibes!). Quirky, fun & a good time.

Next time Sidney name-drops this in Scream, I can finally do the DiCaprio pointing meme! 😂

Piranha (1978) 🎬

The opening scene screams Joe Dante humour, and a topless woman confirms Roger Corman produced! Spirals into glorious, fun absurdity with Heather Menzies as the absolute MVP. She kept me laughing the whole time! Peak 70s creature feature.

45/100 The Night Cage (board game, 2021)
Features: an attempt to escape a creepy underground labyrinth

A tile placement game that involves cooperative strategizing. I enjoyed how the mechanics of the game increased the feelings of tension, claustrophobia, and atmosphere!

44/100 Escape from the Dark Castle (board game, 2017)
Features: an attempt to escape a creepy castle.

Feels kind of like a choose your own adventure book with some cards and dice rolling thrown in for good measure but a fun time!

44/100 Escape from the Dark Castle (board game, 2017)
Features: an attempt to escape a very creepy castle

Feels kind of like a choose your own adventure book with some cards and dice rolling thrown in for good measure but a fun time!

43/100 The Bright Day by Priya Sharma (short story, 2025)
Features: a sunbathing cult

An age old story about trying to decide if u should let a couple with a sick child through your electric fence but with a fun cultish twist. I enjoyed this one, but the ending lost me.

42/100 Monstera by Delilah S. Dawson (book, 2026)
Features: a hot downstairs neighbor who's a plant girl

This was such a lush read and easy read to devour. A very character focused story but I didn't mind and I liked the slow reveal of each character's past.

41/100 #41 The Cremator (movie, 1969)
Features: one man's descent to Nazism

It's very stream of consciousness which made it a hard movie for me to focus on. It's a trip, a fever dream, a deep dive into the psyche of a man and a phenomenally well made film.

#58 Polaroid

High school loner Bird Fitcher finds a vintage Polaroid camera that holds dark and mysterious secrets.

Paint-by-numbers horror. You know the entire plot including any twists that may happen in the first 30 seconds.

#59 The Blancheville Monster

A young woman is doomed by a legend that says her life must be sacrificed.

I'm 99% sure that an episode of #SouthPark is referencing how the characters all say "Emily!" in this movie.

#60 Lady Stay Dead

A woman is looking after her sister's house, unaware that her sister & neighbor have been murdered.

Don't. Just don't. It's rare I full on say something is not worth watching but here I am saying it.

#61 Do Not Enter

It was giving hella early 2000s vibes (kept thinking about Ghost Ship) and then I found out the source material was from the early 2000s.

#62 The Virgin of Nuremberg

My takeaway from this movie was wondering why Christopher Lee sounded so weird only to look it up afterwards and find out that Christopher Lee was not voiced by Christopher Lee. So.

#63 Five Dolls For An August Moon

This one really didn’t work for me. The plot was bloated, and everyone was so unlikable that I didn’t really care what happened to them.

Kristy (2014)

A ‘Good For Her’ college campus horror. Short runtime and solid kills once the slow intro passes.
Gives total 'The Strangers' vibes but beats the recent Renny Harlin trilogy. Also, lead Haley Bennett looks identical to Jennifer Lawrence here!
