Loved Wild Horse Nine.
Spiritually very similar to In Bruges but more melancholic and political in ways that really worked for me.
Rockwell and Malkovich are also fantastic.
Definitely a #TIFF26 highlight.
And that’s a wrap on the festival for me. 😢
“In order to start, you need to give in to pessimism.” That’s only one of many standout bon-mots from THE PERVERT’S GUIDE TO UTOPIAS. And then you have the pairing of Jeanne Dielman with Iron Butterfly (it kinda works…). A fun frolic into philosophy. #TIFF26
My KORE-EDA fan-boy-ism has kicked in: I absolutely loved LOOK BACK. Taking its time luxuriating in its surroundings as well as the minute details & artistry of drawing and sketching, the film is warm, thoughtful and bittersweet without ever being cloying. #TIFF26
46 - Wild Horse Nine: A great script and a juicy performance from John Malkovich are highlights in this tale of CIA agents on Easter Island in 1973 #TIFF26
Sweet rom-com charm meets a healthy dose of cringe in Up Against It. #TIFF26

also, the #TIFF26 sponsors giveaways/freebies/booths seem especially sad this year (partly because it's exactly like last year but even less). Like if you're gonna spend all that money to sponsor and promote, spend some of that budget on just giving proper samples of your product?!
I really didn't;t like EVIL GENIUS, which I just reviewed out of #TIFF26 for @filmfestivaltoday.bsky.social #filmsky @tiffnet.bsky.social

#TIFF26 is just about done (going to the awards press conference tomorrow, and maaaaaay catch Diary of a Chambermaid or the Midnight Madness People's Choice winner, if i can get tickets to one), so i'm lying in bed and throwing on some pure joy
The #TIFF26 top tens are dropping.
This moment always makes me wonder if the consensus best are always the films that already have distribution or if the industry is truly so broken that no critics bother to see the titles that don't since their paychecks rely solely on championing those that do.
Closing out my #TIFF26 with one of my most anticipated films:
̶I̶n̶ ̶B̶r̶u̶g̶e̶s̶ ̶2̶ Wild Horse Nine.

Cartoon Saloon's Julián is an emotionally resonant coming-of-age tale combining elements of Steven Universe and Do the Right Thing. #TIFF26

Of films I’ve seen most likely to get People’s Choice is ELSINORE - and my choice for Canadian award winner is SUNBURN #TIFF26
45 - Club Kid: Superb and touching film about a gay party planner/drug dealer in New York who discovers he has a 10yr old son #TIFF26

Dark, twisted, and bloodier than a slaughterhouse, Half goes straight for the jugular. #TIFF26
