Alt text lore: following the collapse, and later reconstruction, of society proceeding the second automaton war, a sharp increase in crime rates was seen. After the gods deigned to descend from the heavens and provide "Gifts" (effectively superpowers, but more akin to magic) to the people in an attempt to assist redevelopment (certain gods chose to stay uninvolved), many used their newfound power for evil, as you would expect. With the learning that Gifts were passed down genetically, new entire fields of study and academics had to be developed around them, including the potential threat that could be posed. To combat the intense fear of what people could be capable, schools were built specifically for the purpose of analyzing and teaching about one's Gift, and, more significantly, the organization ANGEL was formed. ANGEL was created by the governments of the world working in conjunction with each other to create a sort of world police agency, combatting major criminals. Generally, Angels (the agents in question) work in groups of 3-4, both for the safety of the individuals and to monitor each agent so they don't break the very strict policy set up by the organization. This does not apply, however, to the BLADE Division. The Blades are Angels that work alone, hiding their presence whenever possible. This extends to using codenames such that nobody accidentally learns the identity of a Blade. Blades are generally sent on what most would consider suicide missions. This is done because only the most dangerous Angels are transferred to the BLADE Division; those with both immense power and the willingness to use it. Only those with the most powerful Gifts even get considered, with one exception. Luna Mauth, codenamed LUNATIC is significant because of her lack of a Gift, being more deadly and efficient than even those with the most powerful Gifts.
