In the end we were unable to compete when Gooners upped their game in midfield. Nothing sums up the gulf between the two teams better than the subs & McCoist’s motm. We emerge with credit. We confirm we’ve improved. We know how far we still have to go. Another tough game up next #lufc

Deserved much more out of that. The better side for the majority of the gane - ultimately undone by hundreds of millions off the bench. Trafford should have done better with the first. Such a huge improvement from the games with them last season but ultimately frustrating 😡 #lufc

Gutting. Really gutting. But, ultimately, Arsenal have the ability to change the game from the bench and we just don’t. Our first XI looks great but Wilson, Aaronson and Nmecha vs Guimares, Gyokeres, Timber…? Underlines where we still are. #lufc

Being so disappointed says everything about how far we've come. Very, very good for 60 mins. Arsenal very good for 10-15, and then pretty uneventful last 15. Trafford's worst game, 1st goal gets worse every replay. Squad depth the difference which we can't really complain about. #lufc

Today has shown how weak our bench is. Wilson, Aaronson, Nemecha, just not good enough. Once Tanaka and Stach run out of steam our midfield just disappears. Desperately need new players in January. Arsenal were there for the taking today and we couldn't capitalise on it. #lufc
