LEADERS AND PEERS

Following the vote on the anti-Zionist policy at Green Party Conference, the following joint statement has been
issued by the five Green MPs, Leader Zack Polanski, Leader of the Greens in Wales, Anthony Slaughter, Deputy
Leaders Rachel Millward and Mothin Ali and Green peers Jenny Jones and Natalie Bennett:

As Green Party leaders and MPs, we will always uphold universal human rights

We will never tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment

We will continue to stand in opposition to genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid and the illegal occupation.

We will continue to call out the heinous crimes of the Netanyahu government.

And we will continue to work to ensure that the Green Party is an anti-racist party in every way.

We know there is no conflict between supporting the rights of Palestinians and the rights of Jewish people.

The Green party has accused the Tories of ignoring the reality of the climate
crisis. In a response to the measures announced by Andrew Griffith (see
8.08am), the Green MP Ellie Chowns said:

44 It is completely outrageous that, as evidence of climate breakdown and
environmental collapse becomes ever-more impossible to ignore, the
Conservatives would prefer to tear up environmental standards, weaken
climate protection, and abolish organisations charged with protecting nature,
rather than tackle the genuine issues affecting building in Britain.

There can be no economic growth on a dead planet. There is no success story in
homes that overheat in summer, flood in winter, or leave families paying sky-
high energy bills because we failed to build them properly in the first place.

I joined @greenparty.org.uk to help push environmental policy and green economics up the political agenda. As the #greens turn increasingly to performative policies, its no wonder that other parties are finding political space to back away from the #climate agenda and green policies
