Rob Crank’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth.

My best picture taken in September but not posted is this pigeon, coming in for a landing in Boston Public Garden on Sept 17.

A common pigeon comes in for a landing with its wings spread, tail fanned, and feet out. It's shown from a front left quartering view, showing off the iridescent feathers in its upper breast. Blurred grass and other pigeons form the background.

Good morning 🌅

Rob has chosen #BestOfTheMonth for today's theme.

Tough choice, we've managed to get out and about a fair bit this month.

#BirdOfTheDay theme today is #BestOfTheMonth. I don’t have many for this September but I did have a few of this fella in Stepney Green on the 2nd.
#BirdsUK 🪶 🦜

A bright green parakeet with a reddish beak perches at the edge of a hollow nesting hole in the thick trunk of a London plane tree. The tree features distinctive, mottled peeling bark in shades of tan, brown, and grey. Leaves from surrounding branches frame the sides of the tree trunk.

Rob's theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #BestOFTheMonth. I had a brilliant trip to Singapore and Sydney this month.

Plus I got to have the best view of a Tawny Owl near my house.

I go with a black woodpecker, blue tits, a flying heron and a cormorant.

A black woodpecker is clinging to a tree trunk on the left. Its black plumage is clearly visible, as are its feathered legs and long, pointed beak. The red cap is also faintly visible. The background is a blurry shade of green. Two blue tits in a willow bush; one is landing on a twig in the center left with its wings spread. The other is perched. A little further away, in the upper right, you can see it from the front and below. The background is light green (evening light reflected off a rock).A grey heron flies off.. Its wings are spread out over its body. You can see many details of its gray plumage, its head, its bent neck, its yellow eyes, and its pointed beak. The background is dark green.A cormorant is standing on a rock in the water. It was photographed from the right side and is facing to the right. Its wings are spread out behind it. Its black plumage glistens. Its yellow face and green eyes are clearly visible.

🪶 Rob has chosen #BestOfTheMonth as #BirdOfTheDay theme; you best shot for September

- Quiet month for me; this encounter with a Juvenile Sparrowhawk was definitely the highlight

#birdphotography
#ECK #birds #photography #birdsofbluesky #Raptor #BirdOfPrey #Hawk

A Female Sparrowhawk sitting in a field of long grass. The bird is left of centre of the shot, facinf the camera and sitting in long grass so its bottom half is not visible.
The bird has a hooked beak with yellow at the base and bright yellow eyes. Its has a brown head with a prominent white eye stripe above the eye. Its back is brown and its breast and underbelly are whitish with strong grey-brown barring throughout.
Its is looking towards the right of the shot so that the right side of its head is shown.
In the foreground an out focus tuft of grass runs along the bottom of the frame, obscuring the bottom of the bird. Some kind of thistle can be seen to the left of the bird with pinkish flowers visible.
The background is long green grass, thistles and other vegetation

#BestOfTheMonth is the theme of today’s #BirdOfTheDay and these were very beautiful moments for me.
Kingfisher, Little Egret, Glossy Ibis and Green Woodpecker.
#birds #EastCoastKin #ukwildlife #photography

Kingfisher perched and looking from the left side to the right side. The early morning sun lights up his beautiful orange front whilst turning the normally blue back to green A Little Egret jumping along the shallow waters at Ham Wall. Its yellow feet hanging just above the water, and its black legs bent. The full white plumage perfectly lit in the morning sunlight The Glossy Ibis coming in to land in the shallow waters with wings out behind its body. The sunlight is creating subtle tones of iridescence in the plumageThe Green Woodpecker takes a brief moment to pause on top of an old stump. It’s perched against sunlit foliage whilst not quite catching the sun itself, a beautiful green on green moment

So Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social have set the theme for #BirdOfTheDay in #BestOfTheMonth #ECK #Birds This Egret is from last week. Had to zoom in with my phone to get it a bit closer 😅

A white egret standing in the water. The water level is very low so you can see on the brown from the reed, behind it. In front of it lays small piles of mud. The setting sun hits the egret and the reed.

Rob Crank’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth.

This seagull at Race Point Beach on Cape Cod was my best BOD post this month, so I'm going to repost it.

Seagull shown heading directly at the camera with its wings spread diagonally across the frame. The bird's head is aligned with the ground rather than its wings. The wing tops, just barely visible, are gray and black while the head is gray and white.
