Unfortunately I could only peep into the cloisters at Browne’s Hospital, a 15th century almshouse established by wealthy merchant William Browne when I visited Stamford. Heres one of the doors in what looks to be a fascinating building.

Another dovecote in Musselburgh, in the grounds of Pinkie House, owned from 1597 by Alexander Seton, 1st Earl of Dunfermline & and Lord Chancellor of Scotland. Plaques above the doors contain his coat-of-arms and the mongram of his and his wife, Margaret Hay's initials. #adoorablethursday
