Can you make the Bible an idol?
The real danger isn’t loving the Bible too much.
It’s reshaping God to fit our preferences
while discarding the authority of His Word.
That’s actual idolatry.
Psalm 119
The Endless Virtues of God’s Word (Psalm 119)
The longest chapter in the Bible is one long love letter to Scripture
“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you"
God’s word guides, protects, revives, and satisfies
You don’t have to go to a temple to worship God.
You are the temple.
You don’t need a priest to approach God.
You are a priest.
1 Peter 2
Small tongue.
Massive damage.
Or life-giving power.
Choose carefully.
James 3
James 1:2-4
Trouble → tested faith → growing endurance → strong character.
Nobody likes the struggle.
But without it, endurance never develops.
Some claim the Bible never says Jesus is God.
Yet Paul calls both God and Jesus “our Savior” in the same paragraph.
That’s not ambiguous.
Titus 3
“He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy.”
Titus 3:5
That’s the gospel in one sentence —
and the surrounding verses fill in the rest.
Evil does not get a quiet retirement. Every wrong ever done has a Judge who saw it and will not let it stand. Patient is not the same as absent.

Should Christians obey the government?
Titus 3:1-2
“Submit to the government… be obedient… gentle and show true humility.”
Written under Nero.
Submission is the default —
unless the government requires what God forbids.
Some issues are black-and-white.
Others are disputable matters.
On the disputable ones, Paul says:
Don’t look down.
Don’t condemn.
Don’t cause others to stumble.
Aim for harmony and building up.
Romans 14
Don’t tear apart the work of God over disputable matters.
Aim for harmony.
Romans 14
It’s easy to talk about love.
Harder to actually live it —
especially toward people who wrong us.
Paul’s list in Romans 12 shows what genuine love looks like in everyday life.
You are not controlled by your sinful nature.
You are controlled by the Spirit —
if the Spirit of God lives in you.
Romans 8:9
The mark of a Christian is the indwelling Spirit.
The mark of growth is yielding to Him.
