#QueerWritersChat A4: I'll say yes, because I'm a romance reader, and I do love some good old-fashioned pining. (I cannot write a slow burn to save my life, so my characters tend not to pine for each other.)
Probably the common thread for all of them is yearning for stabilityāalthough that might be a bit strong of a wordāand acceptance, which they define in different ways.

Hi #QueerWritersChat!
I am the ever exhausted EL
My current WIP I am calling Siren WIP, itās about a siren in an open monster world that works in a cafe. So far hes put a charm in someoneās latte and I havenāt decided if I am going to make it
#QueerWritersChat A4: Sure! Wanting stuff is a good motivator! š
Iām Trevor. Currently looking for a publisher for my book of poems āRunning out of Words.ā Considering changing the order of poems (is anything ever really finished?)
Currently sketching out a novel I will write over the winter. Itās social realism.
Not as much as themes of healing and growth, I suppose, but sure. Itās fine.

Iām all about yearning except for when itās a slow burn romance. My characters always trip and fall in it face first. They canāt be chill about that if they tried. 𤣠Love reading it. Canāt ever seem to write it.
I very much like them, yes. I haven't done much romance writing myself to figure out how to write yearning, but it is something to try and get into more someday.
#QueerWritersChat A3: I think so? Sometimes, at least.
I find it most when I'm describing settings; things like sunsets and vistas evoke a lot of wistfulness for me, so I try to capture that on the page.
#QueerWritersChat A4: Yes, because yearning is so much more than just wanting. It comes from a spirit that cannot be contained, a heart that expands beyond the bounds of mundane life. And that's why I write, to slip those bounds myself, so I'm prone to putting it in my characters.
I think so. Exploring characters wants and desires is like ... the core theme of my Usurper Saga books. As early as WIP 2 we begin learning the main players by the end of the series have a 'Reason for Being'. Their Reason is what drives them to fight back the...

INJECT THAT SHIT IN MY VEEEEIIINNNS
Hah Iām pretty sure all my writing is about yearning. Most of my characters are on a quest for found family, whether they admit it or not. They all want a place where they donāt have to feel broken or hide parts of themselves.

I definitely think so. I'm a very reclusive, can't drive, stuck where I am sorta of person, so I tend to write a lot of yearning and wishes. Like I've never been in a romantic relationship, I've noticed most of my characters end up in a happy relationship after their drama ends.
yes. so so so so so much

I don't mind reading yearning from time to time, but I'm not the best at writing it. I find romance illogical, and confusing sometimes. Especially since many of my early references are red flag riddled 2000's romcoms lol
Yes!! I think itās so fun to have characters yearn for things. Itās such a good motivation and plot device!!
Cammie yearns for a relationship where she knows sheās somebodyās first choice.
