A7 #ParkChat My ranger-led tour at Little Rock Central High. A Black ranger, who had previously been a journalist and interviewed the surviving Little Rock 9. He had such a unique perspective of the whole thing, and it made a lasting impression.

A7 I mentioned the Stone Creek Massacre site earlier. One of the more powerful Ranger talks I ever heard was given there. Combined with the signs mentioning "Reconciliation" and it definitely gave a few perspectives. #ParkChat
A3: Being outside, especially around the trees, which reach up to the heavens. At Antietam, we thought about those who had died in the fields now covered with flowers. #ParkChat
A6 I "enjoy" both. I love historic sites and battlefields so they tend to be memorials also #ParkChat
Putting that on a must visit list. #parkchat
A6 I appreciated that at Gettysburg you tour the ridge and those large open fields. Trying to visualize defending that ridge with simple rifles. #parkchat
A6 #ParkChat I'm not sure one "type" resonates with me more than another. Flight 93 hits me differently because I lived that moment. I don't think I'll ever be able to listen to those recordings. It's empathy vs. sympathy.
A6: Battlefield memorials such as Vicksburg. Those are time portals to a time in history we should smartly learn from. #ParkChat
A6) I think the uniqueness of both make them both extraordinary! I do like the landscape ones themselves. I donโt think I have been to enough of each to have any major preference though. #ParkChat
A6 I finally made it to Johnstown Flood NM a couple weeks ago. It was a moving site with some really well done pictures, movies, and just descriptions of the flood. Then to overlook the spots where the damn breached and so forth...it was a more powerful site than expected. #ParkChat
Q7. We may learn much from history books, but what knowledge/perspective have you picked up through Ranger talks or museum visits at National Monuments and/or Memorials? @59NationalParks @naturetechfam #ParkChat
Goodness!! #ParkChat
A5 I'd say more buildings with more displays and info, possibly with technology to add to the story #ParkChat

A5 #ParkChat I feel too connected to the memorials that are more recently recognized. I can still feel the raw fear from that day in the classroom 25 years ago, trying to hold it together in front of my students while wondering WTF was going on and if my friends and family were safe.
