A sweet little mushroom/toadstool for #MushroomMonday

Found on a fairly dry woodland footpath in Burgundy, this September. Any ideas what it could be?

Here’s a rare beauty for #mushroommonday, the stunning Crimson Bolete, Chalciporus rubinus. It has gorgeous carmine red, decurrent pores & red upper stem which gives it a very striking appearance. Very rare & classed as vulnerable on the ICUN red list, I left it undisturbed ❤️ #FungiFriends 🍄 📸

Important recommendations 🍄
Under no circumstances should you collect or consume unidentified mushrooms, especially those resembling *Amanita* species or white death caps.
Even the slightest error in identifying gilled mushrooms can lead to severe poisoning
#MushroomMonday #Mushrooms #fungifriends

The image shows a mushroom with a broad, whitish or pale yellowish cap covered in small, flaky veil remnants, and a distinct, drooping ring on the stalk; its appearance resembles members of the genus *Amanita*, specifically *Amanita citrina* (false death cap) or its white form.

Possible identifications

Based on its appearance, this mushroom could be one of the following species:

*Amanita citrina* (false death cap) — an inedible or mildly poisonous mushroom with a characteristic odor of raw potatoes.

*Amanita phalloides* (death cap, white form) — an extremely dangerous, deadly poisonous mushroom.

*Amanita citrina* f. *alba* — a completely white variety of the false death cap.

Unusual* #mushroom from a few days ago. No idea what kind it is & it looks like someone or something has taken a few bites out of it. #mushroommonday

*I say unusual, it's probly very common & ordinary, I just thought it looked weird :)

Closeup at ground level of a large brown mushroom with white flesh. It is damaged & the side facing us has a large chunk taken out of it so you can see the gills. There's also some damage on top where it's either been bitten or torn & you can see the white insides through the dirty brown skin/top.
