Ready to sit down for my 3rd viewing of #Digger in the week since it released (1st time ever doing this). Brilliant acting & filmmaking. Something about this movie grabs me and won’t let go. Please see it in the theater if you can!

@feijoa Brilliant alignment of form and content. Of course it doesn't 'make sense', #Digger is about #fossilfuel and #climatebreakdown and is an extraordinary work of art. Operatic in its conceit but some good filmref jokes too (beginning with the villain's white cat)

#Digger

Finally got time to watch #Digger in IMAX and it was even more fun than I anticipated. Cruise is riveting. Chivo’s camera is evoking Kubrickian Bosch…. What a wild fucking ride.

The @theweeklyplanet.bsky.social lads discussing #Digger:

James: "Idk if you've heard, but the box-office for this is pretty..."

Mason: "Grim?"

J: "Grim."

M: "Bc it's a movie for no one? And there's a dying cat in the trailer?"

J: "And in the movie."

🤣

#Digger Well I'm glad I went to see this. The contrasting headlines intrigued me. I'm also glad I didn't read any further. An early development risked making much of it hard to invest in but it all came together at the very end quite satisfyingly. And it was funny!

Mixed batch this week-- and, honestly, #Digger is probably the movie I've kept thinking about the most.

New piece: I wrote about Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s DIGGER. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it movie, so naturally I’m mixed on it. The satire and the storytelling are tedious. But it’s made with craft, and Tom Cruise is thoroughly watchable.
