3) More design details, specs and tech dives later (RAH helped, along with Texas Instruments; my friend David R. knows what I'm talking about).

More on heists TBA, but it's 'stealing ideas from the future by kludging necessary conditions' and 'stealing ideas from unrelated domains with new tricks.'

8) #PersonalReferent 1990s EfNet IRC #bearcave and how it maintained and built a defensive community against bad actors.

IRC story and generalized lessons TBD.

Your baseline human right:

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE WITHOUT SYSTEMIC DREAD.

The existence of an org implies an impermeable boundary around its humans. An org can can support no dread. By design.

Again, enshittification or it just happened that way?

2) To have someone speak up and if necessary advocate on your behalf, impartially, like public counsel.

Above all: to eliminate dread of the org. I'll come back to this.

Vital design lessons from Heinlein's gentle consumerist satire of the 1950s corporate treadmill, with an unfortunately jaw-droppingly strange resolution in the romance subplot.

9) In conclusion:

We don't need permission from anyone to clone a good org process and give it away to people to use freely.

First one in, turn on the lights.

Do not work on a human's task without knowing the current state of their assent.

Lack of assent is an immediate, unrecoverable task failure.

#systems #design #systemsthinking #organizationalstructure #oldmanyellsatdesignclouds #wecandobetter #firstoneinturnonthelights

A voluntary opt-in, optional prosthetic that does not punish its non-use, but demonstrates that other ways of thinking and living are possible.

It contracts during times of concern or special situations which require hardening (sunsetting, policy review, transitions can all be open as attack surfaces).

The hardest truth: sometimes we know… and still continue.
That's where change has to begin.

I spent months building AI into Eterna, then moved it out of the centre of the pitch. The customer should be able to start with the problem.
