@looselips.bsky.socialTIFF 2026: The Beloved
It will inevitably draw comparisons to ‘Sentimental Value,’ but ‘The Beloved’ is a darker portrait of creative control, ego, and brutal truths.

@looselips.bsky.socialTIFF 2026: The Beloved
With riveting performances from Javier Bardem & Victoria Luengo, ‘The Beloved’ tells the story of an egomaniacal film director & his attempt to heal the rift with his estranged actress daughter.

@looselips.bsky.socialWell, ‘Alpha Gang’ was certainly a helluva way to end my time at this year’s festival!
Expect all my reviews and features to continue to trickle in throughout the week!
SO MUCH WRITING TO DO!
It was fun #TIFF
See ya next year!
Got to catch @manmademoon.bsky.social rogue trooper on the last day at #tiff what a treat that was! I hope rogue trooper gets on the big screen for everyone to check out and more 2000ad stories! Also what a treat to see Jermaine clement and Matt berry riffing off one another 🤣
@flashymcflash.bsky.socialCongratulations to Matthew Rankin for bringing home the #TIFF Midnight Madness People's Choice Award for his 'Ladies and Gentlemen, Brian Mulroney' ! Here's a little thing I wrote for The Cultural Gutter a little while back about Rankins' last two films!
@kneecogram.bsky.socialFinal #TIFF screening is the documentary winner.
It's so cool that the festival plays the winners for free on the last day.
This will be my 16th of the fest, but since I rarely rate docs here's the rundown:
@screenrant.bsky.social#AustinAbrams still can't believe the technical feats the crew was able to pull off to bring #Whalefall to life. 🛠️
@kathleenbee.bsky.socialI highly recommend the action-packed, hilarious, visually stunning Rogue Trooper; congrats to @manmademoon.bsky.social, Stuart Fenegan (with fitting hair colour) and team on another creative & engaging movie! Fingers crossed for a wide release and more movies from this duo (maybe even Madi?) #TIFF

@misterbigpants.bsky.socialSo ends TIFF Midnight Madness 2026. Only managed 3 but what a 3! A huge heartfelt thankyou to @peterkapow.bsky.social who remains its beating, bloody heart. The audience's love for Christie remains strong, and "SCREAM!" must be included next year. ARRRR! #tiff #midnightmadness
/ end
@misterbigpants.bsky.social"Rogue Trooper" see it for the landscapes alone - beautiful, poisoned, with cloudscapes to die for. One part war movie, two parts Monty Python, featuring the silliest-yet-deadly villain in movie history. You have to admire the courage put into this. #tiff #midnightmadness
