A new study shows that mouse cortical organoids can look much like the developing brain overall, yet individual stem-cell lineages lose some of their normal timing—an important caveat for organoid research. #neuroskyence

Published in Nature Neuroscience, new circuit models of the brain’s visual cortex and lateromedial visual area, courtesy of CSHL's Javadzadeh lab, reveal how the brain builds consensus to process visual input. https://www.cshl.edu/when-the-eyes-play-tricks-the-brain-builds-consensus/

One brain, two origins? Mouse lineage tracing and human stem cells identify anterior and posterior neural progenitors linked to different brain regions. It generates hindbrain motor neurons in vitro. Intriguing, but not evidence of two independent brains.

The knowledge paradox: the more science we publish, the more often we write that “little is known”.

Across PubMed publication years, the two track almost perfectly: r = .98.

More knowledge, more documented unknowns.
