A Eurasian Jay in close up perched at the top of a small bush. The bird is slightly right of centre of the shot, facing left so that its left side is visible.
It has its head in side profile and It is glancing at the camera slightly. It has a thick black bill, white throat and crown, which is streaked with black and a prominent black steak from its beak to its shoulder. Its plumage is pinkish, with bright blue and white barring on the wing coverts, turning to black and white behind it.
Some barely visible, out of focus vegetation in the foreground gives a hazy effect to the birds feet and tail. It is perched on a bare branch, just visible at the bottom of the shot, which has a spur travelling upwards behind the bird to the right. A bush with small, oval green leaves is in the bottom left and the background is a white sky with some out of focus branches visible throughout.

A fluffy masked lapwing chick stands in a patch of short green grass, bent over as if foraging for food. The precocial bird has long, pinkish-grey legs, a white underbelly, and mottled grey-brown down feathers across its back and wings. A distinct dark, speckled cap is visible on its head, along with the very early development of its signature yellow facial wattles near the base of its bill. Small white feathers are scattered on the ground around it, and soft shadows fall across the lawn.
Melanistic pheasant - one of many seen yesterday on Sheppey.
An adorable male American Kestrel perched in a dead tree and almost camouflaged in its many overlapping grey branches. It is in profile facing the left. The background is the clear blue sky.
